The Academy of Yachting Orlando Febuary, 2012

Here are a few of the  programs that will be presented.

Traditions is a program of yachting and yacht club traditions. This script and PowerPoint presentation is available only from the ICA for use at your yacht club, service organization, church or school. It follows the traditions of pleasure boating from its very beginnings in seventeenth century Netherlands through the exciting story of the America's Cup, and the founding of the United States Power Squadrons. More than any other type of club, yacht clubs exist in a world of traditions.  This program entertains while it educates, and is an opportunity for your members to share the knowledge of yachting with a wide audience

Meetings without the Madness is a new PowerPoint presentation that briefly summarizes the history of Parliamentary Law and explains the Five Basic Rules that keep any meeting moving along quickly and easily. Only 30 minutes long, the program is packed with indispensable knowledge for anyone who is going to chair any kind of meeting.

Look Sharp, Feel Sharp, Be Sharp! Is subtitled "Attire is not just a part of a car" -- and with good reason. Proper attire is important for everyone from sports teams to yacht club members. The "Look Sharp" presentation looks behind the simple issue attire and finds a world of variations from street gangs to "black tie" socials and bowling shirts to United States Marines. If your club has ever discussed the reason for having a "uniform" you need to see this presentation.  Only 35 minutes long, it will give you a whole new perspective on the subject of proper attire.

The Sundown Ceremony evokes our national heritage while honoring the flag in a formal ceremony. Some clubs conduct a Sundown Ceremony monthly or quarterly, while others do so only on special occasions. The ICA provides a script which you can freely adapt to your clubs needs and can supply the music needed. In addition, we will publish in our monthly Commodores E-journal  "Sundown Thoughts for the Month" to assist your presentation.
